After a series of messages with him I have changed my rating to three stars. I believe him to be a man of his word and that these issues will be rectified. He seemed very sincere in his apologies and in his desire to improve his ordering process and staff response to delays.

I offered the suggestions of texting if on-line orders were going to be delayed by more than 10 minutes and also coaching the staff on how to properly deal with waiting customers if there are excessive delays. After getting lit up by other users in the group who apparently love waiting indoors in Minnesota in January for 1/2 hour in the middle of a pandemic, I was contacted directly by the owner, Mr. Does the restaurant need to re-examine their on-line ordering? Yes! Does the staff need to be coached in how to deal with excessive delays? Definitely yes.Īs I said, I originally rated this dining experience as one star and posted on our local Facebook page about the poor service and long wait. I'm not sure what that meant, but I didn't take if very well. The response to that by the server was at best a cursory wave. I told them that 1/2 hour late was unacceptable and they should not expect a good review. (It was more like four.) Finally at 6:45 we got our food and a cursory apology for our food being late. At 6:35 I asked how much longer it would be and was told there were a couple orders ahead of me. (Remember - Covid-19, distancing, etc.) I then stepped aside to wait for our dinner.

I walked in a couple minutes after 6:15 and had to wait a couple minutes for the crowd to clear up in the foyer/waiting area before I could check in. This time we ordered around 5:00 on-line on a Friday and the earliest available pickup was 6:15. Our food has always been available when we came to pick it up. We are not dining in until we get vaccinated, and getting take out has worked out very well for ALL the other Maple Grove restaurants we've ordered from. A great responsive and caring owner changed my mind as to how to rate this experience. Our review of Lotus is quite different this time because of the service and how we were treated by the staff. My only wish is that they offered brown rice on their menu. The portions were quite large we could have shared the lo mein or broccoli dish and it would have been plenty. We are used to the thicker lo mein noodles served in Chinese restaurants and were surprised by the much thinner, almost angel-hair thick Vietnamese version of lo mein. Everything was well prepared and tasty, though the spring rolls were a bit greasy to our taste. We ordered the vegetarian spring roll appetizer (2 rolls), vegetable lo mein with tofu added, and a broccoli/carrot with vegetable sauce and white rice dish. In fact, shortly after we were seated the manager apologized for the delay (which as I said, was really no delay at all) and comped both of our glasses of wine. All the staff, including the manager were friendly and helpful. We went to sit at their pleasant outdoor patio and within less than 15 min were seated at a booth. They served us two very generous portions of red wine (a pinot and a cab) and said it would be about a 15-20 minute wait. a few minutes our name was on the wait list. They had a note saying they were short staffed and please be patient, but in just. It was hopping when we arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday.
